Read this first. These are asking prices from individual listings, not sale prices, and they are a small sample. A machine's price depends on its hours, options, control and condition. Use this page to get oriented, not to set a price. Prices for the machines we list are quoted on request.

Public dealer and marketplace listings that displayed a price, checked October 7, 2026. Several are marked sold or unavailable, which means the asking price may not be what the machine sold for. One European marketplace's buying guide says typical used vertical machining centers list between €20,000 and €60,000.
What moves the price
- Hours and condition, more than year. Compare the 2014 VF-4 at $64,900 with a 1997 machine of the same size: age matters, but hours, maintenance and options matter as much.
- Options. Through-spindle coolant, a rotary or fourth axis, probing, a chip conveyor and a faster spindle all add value.
- The control. Machines with common, well-supported controls usually hold value better than machines with controls that are hard to service.
- Documentation. Manuals, maintenance records and a running demonstration reduce the buyer's risk, and sellers can ask for more because of it.
- Location and logistics. Rigging and freight can add thousands to a heavy machine. See our rigging guide.
- Sold as-is or with a return period. A machine offered with a return privilege may carry a higher price than the same machine sold as-is.
How to judge a quote
- Ask for the year, hours, control, options and condition in writing.
- Compare against two or three listings for the same model, a similar year and similar options, not the cheapest machine you can find.
- Add delivery, rigging, electrical work and tooling to the machine price. Those costs can move the total more than a negotiation on the sticker.
- See it run, or get a video and an independent inspection for a larger purchase. Our inspection checklist shows how.
- Check whether Section 179 or bonus depreciation could change what the machine really costs you. See our tax guide.
